Events : Sehat Mela 2006

Sukarya organized the event called "Sukarya Sehat Mela" on 5th November, 2006 in the premises of Shalom Hills International school, Sushant Lok, Gurgaon targeted at the urban population of Gurgaon . The mela was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Haryana, Shri Rao Dan Singh. It was organized as a small step towards accomplishing the mission of Sukarya. The major objectives of the event were

• To create awareness on good health primarily among the urban population and among the nearby Project villages.

• To provide free health check ups and follow up medical care by specialists from renowned hospitals.

• To provide information on alternative healing techniques like Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga and Homeopathy.

• To provide information on current medical breakthroughs like Stem Cell research.

• To provide information and access to health related products and services such as organic foods, health equipments and health insurance.

• To build a network among the local NGOs working on health.

The Mela saw participation from all the prominent multi-specialty hospitals that provided free health check ups, counseling and further referral services. The major activities of the camp were as follows:

• Inauguration of Mobile Health Clinic.

• Free health check-ups and medical care.

• Free alternative healing practices like Acupressure & Reiki.

• Counseling by doctors from well-known hospitals.

• Meetings and discussions with Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Ayurveda specialists.

• Talk shows and interactive presentations by renowned doctors/specialists on health concerns of the urban masses.

• Yoga demonstrations.
