Physiotherapy Unit

It is significant to note that a lot of women working as domestic help, at the farm, as laborers or even at home due to the physically demanding nature of their tasks suffer from various problems like back pain, cervical and body pain. Ignoring these problems can often lead to serious ailments such as disc prolapse or spondylolisthesis.

The physiotherapy unit functioning since 15 August, 2005 in the premises of Sukarya office in Gurgaon, intends to create awareness about physiotherapy as an area of medicine to deal with common aches and pains. The unit has become a centre that primarily caters to the needs of women among others requiring help
of a physiotherapist. The unit which is being run by a team of development
professionals, physiotherapist, volunteers and support staff operates as a walk-in
facility five days a week from 9.30 am to 5.30pm.

The centre also runs a pick-up facility to ferry poor and critical patients who may have difficulty accessing the skeletal public transport system in the city. The centre receives lots of patients from slums in Neemtala, Nalapur, Saraswati Kunj, Sector-56 and phase –V.
