Events : Fund Raising - Meera

Meera – A soul stirring experience!
There
are performances……. And there are performances with a difference.
The difference lying in the purpose for their having been staged.
The prime purpose being to entertain and the subtle purpose being
to drive home a message.
Sukarya
conducted a musical evening for fund raising on 16th
April 2005, at Siri Fort Auditorium, Asiad Games Village, New Delhi.
The evening included "Swardhara" by Biswajeet Roy
Choudhary (Noted Sarod Player ) & Shanti Sharma (Noted Sufi
Singer) and a dance drama on the life of "Meera", by Shri
Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra.
The Chief Guest
of the evening was Shri V. N. Khare and the Guests of Honour were
Ms. Nafisa Ali Sodhi an eminent social activist and Shri Jaya Panda
Rajya Sabha MP. A small audio visual presentation on the activities
of Sukarya was made before the start of the cultural activities. A
special souvenir was launched on the occasion. It was an initiative
to communicate Sukarya’s excellent achievements that have been possible
due to the unflinching support and dedication of all the volunteers,
workers, friends, organizations and individuals to a wider audience.
Shri
Ram Bharatiya Kala Kendra’s dance drama on the life of "Meera"
was a performance par excellence. The journey of a woman breaking
away from the traditional mould to be a seeker, single-minded in her
pursuit of God, was refreshingly captivating. Juxtaposed against the
women of the 21st Century, "Meera" is an epitome
of strength and determination who spreads the message of liberation
through an inner awakening.
Sukarya’s
motto of, "To Reach The Unreached" in their work is subtly
underway by, "reaching the unreachable"! The audience
at the Siri Fort Auditorium indirectly helped in Sukarya’s cause,
by helping generate funds for its noteworthy contribution to the
society.
Well-thought
in spirit, well-done in action and well-presented in the play! All
in all, an enjoyable evening, for the soul as well as the spirit.
