About
Sukarya
Sukarya is
a non-governmental, non-profitable trust based in Gurgaon,
Haryana. Sukarya initiated its work in 1999 and was formally
registered in February 2001. It was established with the simple
aim of providing better health services to the poor and needy. Sukarya's
team includes volunteers driven by a spiritual and emotional
commitment, professionals and consultants. It aims to contribute
to the physical and mental well-being of the marginalized and vulnerable
sections of the society, particularly women, adolescents and children.
Sukarya's
initial work focused on providing free health services to the
poor by organising health camps that focused on diagnostic services,
referral services and distribution of medicines in slums and villages
of Gurgaon. Subsequently, upon its expansion, Sukarya
has been actively undertaking various advocacy based, curative
and preventive health projects, such as the Life Skills Program
for women and adolescents and Anaemia campaign in collaboration
with the Population Foundation of India. IEC campaigns focusing
on nutrition, hygiene, sanitation and reproductive health are conducted
regularly to improve the general health status in the rural areas
and urban slums of Haryana. Sukarya additionally provides
humanitarian assistance in times of natural calamities.
The
road ahead for Sukarya is exciting, inspiring and invigorating.
We hope that we will be able to translate our energy into activities
that will be the harbingers of prosperity for a very large section
of our society.
